The author made it seem like just because they were twins, they knew everything about each other and were each other’s other half, but really they had only sent a few letters to each other throughout their lives and never even visited each other.


She wanted to see places left off most Tortallan maps—the lands south of Carthak; the Roof of the World and what lay beyond it. In a lot of ways, this is my favorite of the Alanna books. The book offers readers their first glimpse into other lands outside of Tortalllike Maren and Sarain.
